Rubber Room Song - Jason Trachtenburg & Catherine Dudley

NYC Teachers are sent to Draconian Gulags awaiting Kafaka esque Trials. Jason takes up their plight.

Rubber Room (by P. Dejean & Jason Trachtenburg)
Rubber Room, we have padded walls to keep you here.
The beaurocracy it is crazy here.
An atrocity, no individuality is glorified
To conform in order to survive
There are those that call this dignified
But what comes from dignity is lack of creativity
In words to educate instead of miscommunicate
To a higher insubordinate
Teachers reassigned and misaligned
With punishment for commitments
To file claims
Legal action is our middle name
When you try to go against the grain
Leads to postulation, arbitration, education
The power points, a semesters tenure
Retention rights
Failing grades increase hostility
While receiving disability
Leaving teachers all alone
Dont disturb them with that calculated drone
Please be unique to who we are
And everybody escapes thus far.

Rachel Trachtenburg Goes to City Hall 10/16/08

14 Year old, Rachel Trachtenburg speaks out at City Hall public hearing against extending Mayor Bloomberg's term limits. Proud press, council members, politicians, mother, friends and cheering public are impressed with Rachel's confidence and eloquence as she states her position. Rachel, the daughter of Tina and Jason Trachtenburg of the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players (http://www.slideshowplayers.com/) is an artist, musician (plays drums, ukulele and keyboards), singer and songwriter. She spoke of how her artist family was forced to move from their home in the East Village (due to the high cost of living and rent increases) to Bushwick, Brooklyn a high crime neighborhood. Their home was robbed within a month of the move. As an artist/musician she and her family tend to come home after dark. The problem is that in such a high crime neighborhood, there are many young girls who do not feel safe when they go home at night. She feels that this poor awful neighborhood would not exist if there was justice in our NYC society and if Bloomberg was doing a good job. In what is considered to be a great country, all children should feel that when they go home, they're going to a safe, secure neighborhood. Rachel feels that Bloomberg has prioritized spending $15 million on a waterfall art installation and an exorbitant amount of money on Yankee stadium when minorities and artists, who also pay taxes are stripped of their rights to a safe living environment. Bloomberg should not be given the right to extend term limits when the people spoke twice and voted for term limits.
